Ask any business owner the skills they seek in new hires and any veteran what they learned in the military, and you’ll likely hear the same things?the ability to adapt, learn quickly and get the job done. These characteristics exemplify veterans, including those with disabilities. But, when it comes to actively recruiting and onboarding veterans, including veterans with disabilities, not all businesses know where to start. This webinar will lay a path, addressing proactive steps employers can take to attract and hire veterans with disabilities and facilitate their success once on the job. Speakers will address veteran “vernacular” around disability—terms such as “disabled veterans,” “wounded warriors” and “service-connected disability”—that employers should understand as well as effective recruitment tools and resources. Information shared will be applicable to any employer interested in tapping the skills and talents of veterans with disabilities, and may be of particular interest to federal contractors seeking strategies for achieving their goals under the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act and Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act.
