The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) recently released its latest annual report on people with disabilities, which revealed that in 2014 the unemployment rate of people with disabilities edged down slightly, to 12.5 percent. Despite the positive downward trend, however, this was roughly double the rate of people without disabilities, which declined to 5.9 percent. The annual “Persons with a Disability: Labor Force Characteristics” report is based on data from the Current Population Survey, a monthly sample survey of about 60,000 households. The data collection is sponsored by DOL’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. Read the summary news release.
