Three new videos highlight the benefits of internships for young people with disabilities, to intern and employer alike. Each features organizations that sourced interns through the Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP), which connects employers with highly motivated college students and recent graduates with disabilities eager to prove their abilities in the workplace through summer or permanent jobs. Run jointly by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Office of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity, the WRP is available to both public and private employers. Two of the videos showcase Federal workplaces (the Pentagon and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation), while one focuses on a private-sector company that is a Federal contractor (SSB Bart). The 2015 WRP database—released just last month—includes more than 1,800 students and represents some of the best and brightest on campuses across the country, running the gamut in terms of majors and career interests. If you’re a federal employer, learn more about the program at WRP.gov. If you’re a private employer, learn more at WRP.jobs.
