To be effective, a government workforce must accurately reflect the diverse citizenry it serves. For this reason, the Federal Government as well as state governments—and in some cases county and city governments—have taken steps to ensure their workplaces are inclusive of qualified people with disabilities. These steps include non-discrimination laws, executive actions and special appointment authorities, among others.
