Overview
The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability (EARN) and the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) hosted a virtual Think Tank, "Transforming HR Through Innovative Disability Policies and Practices” on July 27, 2023.
The discussion focused on the phases of the employment life cycle including recruitment, hiring, retention, and advancement. Insights from this think tank will enable employers to adopt innovative approaches to their human resource policies and practices.
Purpose
The purpose of the “Transforming HR Through Innovative Disability Policies and Practices” virtual think tank was to solicit input and foster discussion on the topic of reimagining traditional HR policies and practices to be more supportive of people with disabilities. The outcomes of this think tank will help employers and other organizations to reimagine HR, inform potential policy priorities, and normalize new and innovative approaches towards maximizing the workforce participation of people with disabilities. The focus was on quality life-sustaining jobs and career paths for people with disabilities.
Objective
To identify and then iterate on innovative policy and practice approaches toward overcoming persistent workplace barriers for people with disabilities.
